July 6, 2005, 8:00pm: Jinx Magazine presents Videogames vs. movies debate. War of the Worlds or Halo 2, that is the question. Or rather: “Will Videogames Become More Important Than Movies?” Find out next week when Charles Herold (game reviewer for the _New York Times_) debates Scott Nybakken (former film critic for _New York Press_ and the _Seattle Stranger_). Michel “The Brain” Evanchik will moderate and Todd Seavey will host. Lolita bar on the northeast corner of Broome and Allen on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, one block south and three west of the Delancey Street subway stop (free

July 6, 2005, 7:30pm: Bush Birthday Bash. To celebrate President Bush's Birthday, the New York Young Republican Club (the independent one) will host a Happy Hour on July 6th. Providence, 311 W 57th St (off 8th Ave), The Madeira Room.
July 7, 2005, 7:00pm: Next Junto meeting. Wendy McElroy on "Is Feminism Still Relevant?" Wendy McElroy answers the question she hears most often: Why do you still call yourself a feminist?In the process, she analyzes theories of justice, equality, class structure, and considers the question "what is a right?" She is the author/editor of several books on individualist feminism, most recently "Liberty for Women: Feminism in the 21st Century." She has a weekly columnist for FOXNews and is proprietor of the popular website http://www.ifeminists.net McElroy is a freelance writer whose work has appeared in a wide range of publications from National Review to Penthouse, the New York Post to Marie Claire. July 7, 2005, 6:30pm: Metropolitan Republican Club presents First Thursday, its monthly informal social and political salon. In addition to the social part of the evening, this is an important event because petitions will be available for signing to enable our local Manhattan Republican candidates able to get on the ballot. $10 at the door for members, $15 at the door for non-members includes all refreshments. July 10, 2005, 7:00pm: Join the TR (Teddy Roosevelt) Republican Club meeting at the club's headquarters, 191 Seventh Avenue, Suite #2S. Mr. Ed Cox, who is exploring a run against Hillary Clinton in 2006 will be the speaker. Following the speech, refreshments will be served, and you can mingle with like-minded Republicans and Republican friends.
Admission is $10.00 for non-members. TR/Gramercy Park Republican Group members get in free.
July 14, 2005, 7:30pm: NYYRC General Meeting (the independent one). Our guest speaker will be Fred Siegel, author of The Prince Of The City: Giuliani, New York And The Genius Of American Life. Fred Siegel is a professor of history at Cooper Union and a columnist for the New York Post. Professor Siegel will be signing copies of his books at the end of the speech. Place: Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmens Club, 283 Lexington Ave (bet 36th & 37th St), 2nd Floor. Admission: Members - FREE, Non Members - $5, F/T Students - $2. July 14, 2005, 7:00pm: join the NYYRC (the state-party affiliated one) and the Women's National Republican Club for the Grand Old BBQ. Come to the WNRC (3 West 51st Street, bet. 5th and 6th Avenues) and enjoy backyard food and drink delights as we relax with friends and live music. Club members who joined at the Presidential, Bald Eagle and Red White and Blue levels may attend this event for free. It's $40 for all regular club members who RSVP (to firstname.lastname@example.org) by July 13, 2005, $50 after that.
July 14, 2005, 8:00pm: come to the monthly meeting of the Log Cabin Republican Club at the WNRC (3 West 51St Street) as they update us on politics, and present a guest speaker.
July 19, 2005 7:00 pm: Metropolitan Republican Club presents its President’s Dinner. The featured speaker is Herman Badillo. Mr. Badillo has served as Bronx borough president, Congressman, deputy mayor and chairman of the board of trustee of CUNY. $60 per person includes dinner and refreshments.
