Featuring Michael A. Rebell, Executive Director, Campaign for Fiscal Equity. Eric Hanushek, Senior Fellow, Hoover Institute at Stanford University. Moderator Harvey Shapiro, Senior Contributing Editor, Institutional Investor. New York State's funding of public schools was ruled unconstitutionally inequitable early this year. The ruling caused paralysis in Albany. The legislature and Governor failed to meet the court's deadline to come up with a solution. Now there is tremendous uncertainty for school districts across the state and a solution is back in the court's hands. New York's situation is not unique. It is following the path of New Jersey and more than a dozen other states. While the failures of urban education are well known, the nature of the solution is open to debate. Free and open to the public - Reception to follow. PLEASE RSVP ON THE SMITH FAMILY FOUNDATION WEBSITE.
