June 1, 2004, 7:00pm: Town Hall Meetup at Manhattan Lounge, Second Avenue between E.89th and 90th. All meetup.com events are free. Other Townhall Meetups take place around New York. The one in Westchester is usually at Fridays in Scarsdale.

June 3, 2004, 6:30pm: The Metropolitan Republican Club presents its monthly First Thursday informal political gathering at the club's headquarters, 123 East 83rd Street, between Park and Lexington. June 5, 2004, 9:00am-4:00pm: ACTIVISM SEMINAR- The Leadership Institute will be holding an Activism Seminar in New York City. The event is sponsored by the Tri-State Chapter of Free Republic. There will be a one-hour break for lunch. Morning and afternoon coffee service will be provided. It will be at the Women's National Republican Club, 3 West 51st Street, NYC, fourth floor, Lincoln Room. The topics covered will include forming a message, media contacts, public speaking, rallies and protests, Internet activism, coalition building, forming personal networks, and targeted voter contact. Everyone who has been to a Leadership Institute seminar is full of praise for this very worthy outfit and their top-notch presenters. For those who would like to become more active, this seminar is the ideal way to learn about political activism. In fact, no matter how much we think we know about activism, these people will sharpen our focus, rev up our enthusiasm, and teach us some new tricks. June 9, 2004, 8:00pm: The New York Young Republican Club (the independent one) will hold a Candlelight Vigil for Ronald Reagan. The 40th President of the United States, Ronald Wilson Reagan, passed away on Saturday after being afflicted with Alzheimer's disease for the last 10 years. Reagan left office beloved by the American people and respected by his political opponents and the press. He will certainly be remembered as one of America's greatest Presidents - for his character, leadership, humor and love for America. To give New Yorkers a chance to express their feeling of loss, we will hold a candlelight vigil to honor the life and memory of our greatest President. June 10, 2004, 11:00am: You're invited to a Cato Institute luncheon seminar in cooperation with the Donald and Paula Smith Family Foundation, featuring best-selling author and one of America's leading political satirists, P. J. O'Rourke and Washington correspondent for The Economist, Adrian Wooldridge. The luncheon seminar will be held on Thursday, June 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York City. P. J. O'Rourke will discuss the topic of his new book, Peace Kills: America's Fun New Imperialism. In his book, O'Rourke tries to unravel the mysteries of war by visiting such countries as Kosovo, Egypt, Israel, Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Adrian Wooldridge will discuss the topic of his new book, The Right Nation: Conservative Power in America, which explores the history of the conservative movement and its effectiveness in shaping American political life. There will also be brief presentations by Brink Lindsey, director of the Cato's Center for Trade Policy Studies, who will debunk the hysteria about outsourcing and American job loss, and by Cato senior fellow Alan Reynolds on the economic doublespeak of this election year. June 15, 2004 and June 17, 2004, 6:30pm: Petitioning Open House. If you live anywhere in Manhattan, you’re invited to stop by the Met Club, 122 East 83rd Street, on Tuesday or Thursday to sign a petition to put our Republican Candidates on the November Election Ballot. The club will be open from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. for this purpose. This is very important! No candidate can be on the ballot unless we collect enough petition signatures to qualify them. Light refreshments will be served.

June 17, 2004, 7:00pm: The New York City affiliate of the Shooters' Committee on Political Education, a pro-RKBA organization, meets at Charlie Mom's Restaurant, 1491 1st Avenue (between 77th and 78th Streets), at 7:00 p.m. on the 3rd Thursday of the month except major holidays. June 17, 2004, 7:00pm: The New York Young Republican Club (the state affiliated one) will feature speaker, Linda Chavez. She will be talking to us about her new book, "Betrayal: How Union Bosses Shake Down Their Members and Corrupt American Politics." Chavez also writes a weekly syndicated column that appears in newspapers across the country and is a political analyst for FOX News Channel. Other books authored by Chavez are: "Out of the Barrio: Toward a New
Politics of Hispanic Assimilation" (Basic Books 1991), which the
Denver Post described as a book that "should explode the stereotypes
about Hispanics that have clouded the minds of patronizing liberals and xenophobic conservatives alike." and "An Unlikely Conservative" an autobiography (Basic Books 2002). This meeting will be held at the Women's National Repubican Club at 7pm and, as usual, is free and open to the public.
