February 1, 2005, 3:00pm: The Congress of Racial Equality will air its weekly radio show. As CORE celebrates Black History Month, we will be joined by guests from Mississippi this week. Discussing the changes Mississippi has gone through, Mayor Philip Curtis West of Natchez, Mississippi, tells of his experiences as a black man during the civil rights movement. February 3, 2005, 7:00pm: Junto, presents Richard W. Stevens on The Untold Story of Civilian Disarmament and Genocide. The New York Helmsley Hotel
212 East 42nd Street, just east of Third Ave. Admission Free. No reservation necessary. Mr. Stevens advocates for the freedom to own firearms. He is the author, with Aaron Zelman, of "Death by Gun Control: The Human Cost of Victim Disarmament" in 2001 argues that gun control "is a pre-condition for genocide." His earlier book "Dial 911 and Die", in 1999, argues that police have no legal obligation to protect people from criminals. An attorney, Mr. Stevens taught legal research and writing at the George Washington University Law School and the George Mason University School of Law. He currently specializes in preparing legal briefs for trial and appellate court cases. He is editor of the Bill of Rights Sentinel, a publication of the organization Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership. Some of his articles appear on the website KeepAndBearArms.com. His articles have appeared in legal and other publications,from Ideas on Liberty magazine to S.W.A.T. Magazine. The film, which analyzes political correctness on college campuses, was recently named one of the ten best documentaries of 2004 by the Liberty Film Festival.
