May 8, 2008, 7:30pm: The next New York Young Republican Club (the independent one), Inc meeting will feature: A Fox News Contributor, Margaret Hoover is a regular on Bill O'Reilly's top-rated show, The Factor. Ms. Hoover has also appeared as a guest co-host on ABC's The View, CNN's Larry King Live, CBS's The Early Show as well as Fox News and Fox Business programs. Ms. Hoover is a member of the Board of Overseers for the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and serves on the board of the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library Association. www.margarethoover.com AND John P. May 15, 2008, 7:00pm: The next New York Young Republican Club (the state-party affiliated one), Inc meeting will feature: Brett Josphe and S.E. Cupp are the authors of the soon to be released, Why You're Wrong About the Right: Behind the Myths: The Surprising Truth About Conservatives, a book that dispels many stereotypes about the Republican Party. Noteable contributors include George Will, Tucker Carlson, Glenn Beck, Laura Ingraham, Newt Gingrich, Al Leiter, Curt Schilling, Tony Stewart and many more. S.E. Cupp was born in California and raised primarly in Andover, MA. She is currently pursuing a Masters degree at NYU in religious studies, and plans to write about American culture, including politics, sports and religion, in the future. Brett Joshpe was born in 1980 in Stamford, NY. He graduated from Cornell University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and from Harvard Law School in 2005 with a Juris Doctor. He now serves as a corporate counsel at the law firm of Wrobel & Schatz LLP and has several business pursuits outside of law, including serving as a principal in the commercial real estate firm, Iconik Enterprises, LLC. May 15, 2008, 6:00am: Washington, DC Pro-Israel Lobbying Trip with YJLPAC. Our intrepid Organizational Committee members, Joe Glass, Baruch Hecht, Boris Noble, and Sabra US CapitalSasson, have arranged an incredible Washington, D.C., pro-Israel lobbying trip and tour! The group will meet on Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. at the New Century Travel bus station at 88 East Broadway - near the Manhattan Bridge (check it out on mapquest). Don't be late, the bus leaves at 7:00 a.m. The bus arrives in Washington, DC at 11:30 a.m. There will be plenty of time to nap on the bus. For alternative methods of travel please see below.
The PAC will be hosted by Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) - the youngest member of the House and staunch supporter of Israel - and Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) - Chief Deputy Whip and Chairman of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare, not to mention Jewish and Republican. Rep. Peter King (R-NY), Rep. Scott Garrett (R-NJ), Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL) and Rep. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) will also be joining us. Rep. King is a hometown hero and ranking member of the Homeland Security Committee. Rep. Garrett serves on the House Republican Policy Committee, which develops legislative ideas and vision for the Republican agenda in the House of Representatives. Rep. Kirk is a member of the powerful House Appropriations Committee and serves on two of its subcommittees: State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs, and Financial Services. Rep. Flake serves on the Committee on Foreign Affairs, helped monitor Namibia's transition to democracy and has served as Executive Director of the Goldwater Institute. We expect several more Congressman to attend and will make that information available as soon as possible. This list is, of course, subject to cancellations.

April 10, 2008, 7:30pm: New York Young Republican Club (the independent one) April Speakers Forum. Our Guests: Assemblyman Greg Ball. Assemblyman Greg Ball represents New York's 99th Assembly district which is comprised of the towns Patterson, Mahopac, Carmel, Southeast, Putna Lake and Brewster in Putnam County; Yorktown, Mohegan Lake, Somers, and North Salem in Westchester County; and Pawling in Duchess County. Assemblyman Ball is a business executive, former active duty Air Force officer and has risen to prominence for his stance on illegal immigration, and has been named a Chairman of Lawmakers for Legal Immigration, an immigration reform group. And, Lenore Skenazy. Lenore Skenazy is a columnist and features reporter for "The New York Sun". She previously worked for the "New York Daily News", NPR, and "Mad Magazine". She was featured in the second episode of Bravo's series Tabloid Wars. Lenore Skenazy has recently has received added attention for writting an article in which she admitted allowing her 9-year old commute home all by himself, walking the streets and riding the subway. Ms. Skenazy will discuss parenting and ask whether we as a society have become overly protective and how the dangers today, if any, are real. Mr. Connors is also a Civil Affairs officer in the United States Army Reserve stationed in Mattydale, New York. He is the second in command of a Civil Affairs Battalion in the US Army Reserve, which consists of 130 soldiers who are specially trained to develop rapport with indigenous populations. A Civil Affairs unit handles all aspects of military interaction with civilians on the battlefield. This seat, currently held by the term-limited Peter Vallone Jr., is the most conservative district in the city currently represented by a democrat. Tamar writes extensively on immigration and citizenship and is the author of Reinventing the Melting Pot: The New Immigrants and What It Means To Be American. A leading voice in the media and elsewhere in favor of immigration reform, she works to organize the center-right behind reform proposals taking shape in Washington. Isaacs Neighborhood Center, named in honor of our former Met Club member and city councilman. As a senior adviser to Rudolph Giuliani's 1993 mayoral campaign, he wrote one of Mr. Giuliani's path-breaking speeches on quality of life.
