August 2, 2006, 8:00pm: --A JinxMagazine.com Debate: "Does Big Business Prefer Big Government?"
YES: Tim Carney, author of _The Big Rip-Off: How Big Business and Big
Government Steal Your Money_. NO: Michel "The Brain" Evanchik, of
Evanchik.net. Moderator: Todd Seavey, Jinx Rational Agent and editor
of HealthFactsAndFears.com. Downstairs at Lolita bar on the corner
of Broome and Allen St. on the Lower East Side of Manhattan (one block
south, three blocks west, of the Delancey subway stop; free admission,
cash bar). After the debate and q&a, an audience vote will resolve the
question once and for all. A Tim Carney book signing will follow.

former Robert Novak employee who wrote this book...

August 9, 2006, 6:30 pm: Dan Russo, Republican state senate candidate for the 29th district, presents a wine tasting fundraiser at the Met Club featuring wines from small vineyards of France. Also, the KT McFarland-John Spencer debate will be shown at the event on the Club's large screen television. Donation is $35. Metropolitan Republican Club, 122 East 83rd Street (just west of Lexington).

August 10, 2006, 7:30pm: New York Young Republican Club (the independent one) August Political Forum. Our Speakers: Our featured guest will be Steve Malanga, a Contributing Editor of City Journal and a Senior Fellow at the Manhattan Institute. He is author of the book, The NEW NEW LEFT: How American Politics Works Today, which has received rave reviews. Mr. Malanga writes about the intersection of urban economies, business communities, and public policy and his op-eds have appeared in the New York Post, New York Sun, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Chicago-Sun Times and many others. The New York Young Republican Club will also be featuring two candidates for local office in Brooklyn: Yvette Velazquez Bennett who is running for the 44 Assembly District. The district encompasses Park Slope, Flatbush, Kensington, Midwood, and Windsor Terrace. Viviana V. Hernandez who is running for the 18 Senate District. The district encompasses Bedford-Stuyvesant, Clinton Hill, Boerum Hill, Crown Heights, Fort Greene, Prospect Heights, Red Hook and parts of Sunset Park, Park Slope and Carroll Gardens.
